ABOUT COACH SHARON

Sharon L. Mikrut, MSW, CTACC, is an Executive and Life Coach, and CEO of Create It! Coaching. Although her niche is to partner with nonprofit executive directors, managers, and other professionals to maximize their resources in a competitive environment, she is passionate about working with all individuals interested in creating positive changes in their personal and/or professional lives.

Sharon has held a variety of jobs throughout her career, ranging from being a vocational counselor to President of a national certification body. Although most of her career has been spent in the nonprofit field, Sharon worked for the State of Colorado for nine years. She was a former Executive Director of three organizations (two of them nonprofit agencies), and understands the multiple challenges that nonprofit EDs face in managing their organizations. One of her major strengths is infrastructure development.

Sharon received two BA degrees (Social Work and Psychology) from Michigan State University in 1981. She then received a Master’s degree in Social Work Administration from the University of Michigan in 1983. In addition, she is a Coach Training Alliance Certified Coach.

On a personal note, Sharon was in an automobile accident in 1977. She sustained a spinal cord injury, which left her paralyzed. Having been an active person prior to her disability, her life changed in an instant. She knew it wouldn’t be the same, but wasn’t ready to take a passive role in shaping her future. She understood the importance of graduating from college and using her mind, as physical jobs would no longer be a reality. In addition, Sharon had to battle all types of discrimination faced by people with disabilities. Instead of accepting powerlessness, she learned to become her own advocate and an advocate for others, empowering them to take full control of their lives.

After spending most of her career in the nonprofit field, developing and managing grants, programs, and agencies, Sharon decided to start her own coaching business, sharing her vast knowledge, skills, and extensive experience with the nonprofit community. She is passionate about partnering with nonprofit professionals to manage their organizations in a more effective and efficient manner, and empowering people to take full control of their lives, creating the lives their truly desire and deserve.

Although Sharon was born in Detroit, Michigan, and lived in Colorado for almost 14 years, she currently resides in Tucson, Arizona.
